Event Verification Policy
To help ensure funds are directed to genuine celebrations and to protect both guests and celebrants from misuse of the platform, EventTipping requires all celebrants to verify an upcoming or current event before they may receive gifts. Verification is automated: clear submissions are approved instantly, and anything unclear comes back to you with a plain explanation of what to fix.
Accepted verification methods
There are two methods. Both require an uploaded proof document — no event goes live without one.
Venue or vendor booking confirmation
Approved automatically when you upload your confirmation and provide a genuine venue or vendor business name. A booking reference and booking date are optional.
Invitation or save-the-date
Approved automatically when you upload the invitation (image or PDF) and your event name reads as a real occasion.
Review timing
- Each submission starts a 24-hour review window.
- Submissions that clearly meet the criteria above are approved immediately — there's no need to wait out the window.
- Submissions that don't clearly meet the criteria are never harshly declined. You're told exactly what's missing or unclear and invited to resubmit.
- Every resubmission starts a fresh 24-hour window. There is no cutoff and no lockout — you can keep correcting until it's right.
- If nothing is resubmitted within the window, the event simply stays in “needs correction” and doesn't go live. That is not a rejection.
How we handle your submission
- Purpose limitation: we only collect what's needed to confirm the event is real. No unrelated personal data is requested.
- Minimal retention: verification documents and details are kept only for the event's active lifecycle and deleted or archived 90 days after the event.
- Access limitation: submissions are visible only to the automated checker and to the account holder. They are never exposed to guests or other celebrants.
- Transparency: you are always told why a submission wasn't approved, so you never have to guess.
